Joseph’s practice is focused in four areas: 1) Real Estate, 2) Corporate and Business Law 3) Estate Planning and 4) Commercial and Civil Litigation. Joseph represents individuals, companies and banks in commercial and residential real estate transactions. He counsels individuals and businesses on issues such as entity formation, acquisitions, joint ventures and dissolution. Joseph is experienced in the formation and administration of estate plans involving wills, trusts, healthcare proxies and powers of attorney as well as navigation of the probate process.Moreover, Joseph represents individuals and companies in litigation matters such as foreclosure defense, consumer protection, breach of contract and landlord/tenant disputes. Prior to establishing his own law practice, Joseph was a transactional attorney with two of Chicago’s most prominent law firms.
Joseph is a member of the American Bar Association, Chicago Bar Association and Hispanic Lawyers Association of Illinois. He is currently a board member of the Illinois Real Estate Lawyers Association and a member of the National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals (“NAHREP”) National Board. He served as President of the Chicago Chapter of NAHREP from 2010 thru 2011. Joseph was recently elected as the 2016 National President of NAHREP where hewill be working with the housing industry’s top public and private sector leaders. Joseph’s charitable affiliations include serving as aboard member of the March of Dimes/Comcast Sports Awards Dinner and the Rauner YMCA. Furthermore, Joseph is a frequent speaker on such topics as business formation and development, establishment of estate plans, short sales, foreclosure, predatory lending, and the purchase and sale of a home. He is regularly featured in legal segments on radio and television.
Joseph obtained his law degree with distinction from the Hofstra University School of Law in Long Island, New York where he was a recipient of the Patricia Roberts Harris Fellowship. He received a bachelor of arts in political science with honors from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. Joseph is fluent in Spanish.
David Richardson is a member of the law firm of Nery & Richardson LLC, practicing primarily in the areas of real estate transactions, business and corporate law, and estate planning. David began his legal career with Sidley & Austin, one of Chicago’s largest and most prestigious law firms. While there, he practiced in the firm’s derivatives group, assisting private investment managers with fund formation, partnership and securities law issues. David was also an associate at Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal, where he worked extensively with start-up businesses on corporate, securities and venture capital matters, as well as commercial real estate matters.
While a member of Nery & Richardson, David has represented numerous entities and individuals on commercial and residential real estate matters, evictions and foreclosures. He has also helped form and advises small businesses on legal issues including choice of entities, trademarks and trade secrets, licensing, leasing, capital raising, contracts, and corporate governance.
David also represents banks on commercial lending matters, collections, and foreclosures.
David is an honors graduate of the Northwestern University School of Law, where he was a member of the Law Review and board member of the student funded public interest fellowship group. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Middlebury College in Middlebury, Vermont.
